Prosthodontics

Prosthodontics is a specialized branch of dentistry focused on designing, making, and fitting artificial replacements for teeth and other parts of the mouth. Prosthodontists undergo three additional years of intense, university-based training after dental school to master the restoration of oral function, comfort, and appearance.

Key Focus Areas

  • Tooth Replacement: Designing and placing bridges, partial dentures, and full dentures.

  • Dental Implants: Planning and restoring surgical implants with lifelike crowns or prostheses.

  • Aesthetic Dentistry: Enhancing smiles using porcelain veneers, bonding, and all-ceramic crowns.

  • Full-Mouth Reconstruction: Rebuilding the entire bite for patients with severe tooth wear or trauma.

  • Maxillofacial Prosthetics: Treating congenital defects or injuries involving the jaw and face.

  • TMJ Disorders: Diagnosing and treating chronic pain and dysfunction in the jaw joints.

Core Goals

  • Restore Function: Chewing efficiently and speaking clearly.

  • Maximize Comfort: Ensuring artificial teeth fit securely without pain.

  • Enhance Appearance: Creating natural-looking smiles that boost self-esteem.

  • Preserve Structure: Maintaining the health of remaining teeth and jawbone.

  • Ensure Longevity: Utilizing durable materials for long-lasting clinical results.
